Battling with Fulani/Herders Clash in 2021 Speaks Volume About Poor Leadership| GOVERNMEND

Today’s Nigeria is in no way different from the Nigeria created by the British colony in 1914, where they had to preach and beg for unity amongst citizens, cry over ethno-religious crisis and allowing individual to take charge of a collective security. This is a stage in state creation that we should have forgotten not more than ten years after the amalgamation took place.
We would be making a dry joke out of our own predicament if we argue that Nigeria is not backward; and no effort in sight to do any better. Every Nigerian has atleast a reason why Nigeria has failed, it’s safe to say we all know what the problems Nigeria is confronted with are, but we are not doing enough to address issues that have closely sank the this nation.
For over a 107years of amalgamation, we have not been able to holistically deal with a single sector of the government or create a long lasting solution to a problem in the country.
The rate of the deterioration that has enveloped governance is frankly disturbing. Our demands from government have fell from wanting stable electricity, portable water, motorable roads, health care facilities, employment, affordable housing and other long list of life supporting amenities to begging the government for security of lives and properties. We have gotten to a point where it wouldn’t be out of place if anyone seeks to know if Nigeria really needs some persons parading themselves as government, for reasons too obvious to know as there’s a clear understanding that the country is on auto pilot.
While other countries of the world are busy with inventions and innovations capable of bringing about global change, Nigeria is still battling with Fulani/herders clash. Our political leaders, past and present are unperturbed about our development despite travelling to different countries aimlessly, enjoying basic social and infrastructural amenities they can’t replicate here.
The Fulani herders need empowerment – they need to be sensitised and given resources to have ranches. How is this even hard to figure out! We should not be stucked in only this issue. The world is asking more from Nigeria as a nation filled with potentials. Mandela said the greatness of Africa is embedded in Nigeria, this is apparent.
Buhari’s predecessors have all failed but Buhari is on a different level of irresponsibility. While Rwanda, South Africa, Ethiopia and others are investing massively in science and technology. Making sure they’re not left behind technologically, we are begging the government for security, which is the first and the most important function of a state.
Nigeria, with an incredible population of over 200 million, is not in preparation for the future. And our level of preparedness as a nation wouldn’t stop the future from happening.
