Oodua Republic With People Like Tinubu Is still A Dysfunctional Nigeria – Seyi Oyetunbi | GOVERNMEND

The agitation for succession of a region within Nigeria sounds good, but not good enough. The past generations planted some seeds of calamitous leadership that have germinated hugely and spread across the four cardinal points of the country. We have plenteous criminals in power everywhere in the country. Therefore, if we want an Oodua Republic, let’s be sure we are breaking away with some of the notorious political figures as part of our inheritance packages from the Nigeria every region contributed to what it is today.

While the Arewa may think the people of Biafra are the cause of their underdevelopment, let them not forget that their kinsmen in power who foster the almajiri system have their children schooling abroad. The people of Naija Delta may also be in the thought of growing faster and better if they didn’t have to share revenue generated from crude oil, they should remember a son of the soil who was a governor singlehandedly stole $250 million, recently it was the acting MD, NDDC Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei who could only explain the disappearance of N40 billion. The Biafrans think an independent Biafra would solve all problems, judging from the performance of their governors, it’s easy to understand that their problems are leaders who speak Igbo and share the same ancestral linkage with them; other tribes are just accomplices. We are all victims of leaders we share the same ancestry.

It’s laughable to think that the Hausas are the enemies of the Igbos and Yorubas because of some differences while little emphasis is laid on the obvious. A bad leader is a bad leader because he’s driven by no ideology, not because he’s from the North, South or from nowhere. The elites know what the problems are, but because they’re part of the problems they would never put the masses in the know of what the reality is.

If the Oodua Republic would accommodate Tinubu, Gbenga Daniel, Aregbesola, Obasanjo and many other Yoruba leaders or politicians who are milking Nigeria based on its dysfunctionality, I don’t think we need to die for a supposed beautiful Oodua Republic for political predators.

Check under bridges in Lagos at night, people have no shelter. Yet you would be shock to know most mansions in Lekki, VGC and VI are empty, while some are nothing more than a money storage.
I’m almost sure every community you go to in Yoruba-land has produced atleast one big political leader, but this wouldn’t be evident in the development of the community. Hence, agitation for disintegration is just another beautiful distraction.

However, if you ask me, I believe the fight for a working Nigeria requires less energy. If we could bring a whole country to a standstill during the Endsars protest, imagine how much more we would be achieve if we annex our resources to fight corruption in power. The system is not working, it wouldn’t still work if we break into a ten man settlement until we stand up and make it a duty to re-educate those at the helms of affairs that the power reside with the people.

I agree they’re alot of problems attached to one Nigeria. As numerous as they seem to appear, none is tribal based even though our politicians make it look that way since they know it’s the most potent means of breaking us.
Let’s fight to rescue Nigeria, not to show a sign of defeat by playing into the traps of politicians.
