A medical doctor, Jane Chioma Ofoma has been arrested in Auchi, Edo state, by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for selling drug- laced cookies and biscuits through her online catering service, Omachi’s kitchen.
NDLEA director Media and Advocacy Femi Babafemi in a statement revealed that, following intelligence and surveillance, narcotics officers of the Edo state Command of the Agency on Saturday, stormed her operational base in Auchi, where she was arrested and at least 94 pieces of cookies produced with cannabis sativa were recovered.
Chioma, 26, a graduate of medicine from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka recently completed her housemanship at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital. She has confessed to baking the cookies with skunk in a statement made during interrogation.
In a similar case, 30-year-old Emmanuel Ehiramhen was arrested by officers of the Edo Command of the Agency for dealing in crack cocaine.
The statement also says that NDLEA operatives in Kwara State arrested a 52-year-old ex-Soldier, Ibrahim Musa with more than 12 kilograms of Arizona (cannabis sativa), 4 grams of Cocaine and 25 grams of flunitrazepam.
The suspect was apprehended last Thursday at Oke-Odo, Tanke area of Ilorin metropolis.
