To Seize Commercial Motorcycle, Lagos Police Injure Rider’s Head | GOVERNMEND

Policemen in Lagos State have been captured on camera assaulting a suspected commercial motorcycle rider in Oja Oba, Abule Egba area of the state.

In a video circulating on social media since Saturday, and posted by Adebowale Afolabi, a resident of the state, one of the three policemen can be seen using a baseball bat to hit the rider.

With two forceful blows from this yet-to-be-identified policeman, the rider loses composure and soon reveals a bloodied head.

The 44-second clip begins with the rider on the floor, and his motorcycle down behind him. A policeman tries to restrain him, while another makes to ride the motorcycle away.

This rider gets up, fends off the policeman trying to hold him, and goes after the one taking his motorcycle away. It is in his bid to do so that another policeman begins swinging the bat that caused the injury.

Witnesses to the incident can be heard lamenting, asking him to follow the policemen, and asking in Yoruba Language why the police did what they did.

FIJ called Benjamin Hundeyin, Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, on Wednesday morning, but he did not respond to calls. He had also not responded to our SMS and WhatsApp messages as of press time.
