Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, sent shockwaves through the international community by issuing a stark warning of “preemptive action” against Israel, raising concerns about a potential escalation in the ongoing conflict.
During a live broadcast on state television, Amirabdollahian emphasized that “the leaders of resistance groups will not allow the Zionist regime to act in any way it likes in Gaza.”
He also made reference to his recent meeting with Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, further underscoring the seriousness of the situation.
“The possibility of pre-emptive action by the resistance front is expected in the coming hours,” Amirabdollahian stated, leaving the international community on edge.
He continued, “All options are open, and we cannot be indifferent to the war crimes committed against the people of Gaza. If we don’t defend Gaza today, tomorrow we may have to defend against these [phosphorus] bombs in our own children’s hospital.”
Amidst allegations by Human Rights Watch that Israel used white phosphorus munitions in its recent military operations in Gaza and Lebanon, Amirabdollahian’s warning adds a new layer of complexity to the already tense situation.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, echoing the urgency of the situation, cautioned that time was running out to reach a political solution.
He further expressed concerns about the potential expansion of the Israel-Hamas conflict into other regions, setting the stage for a critical period in the ongoing strife.
