The Federal Government makes a significant step towards harnessing Nigeria’s burgeoning digital economy and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision to create 2 million digital jobs by 2025.
The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy has unveiled the “3 Million Technical Talent” (3MTT) program.
This ambitious program is set to become a cornerstone of the Renewed Hope agenda, aiming to build Nigeria’s technical talent pool while positioning the country as a net talent exporter.
The inaugural phase of the 3MTT programme, conducted in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), is set to kickstart the development of a new generation of technical experts.
This phase will bring together a consortium of stakeholders, including programme fellows, training providers, partners, and placement organisations.
In the first phase, a fellowship model will be employed. The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy will identify and support individuals with interests in specific technical skills.
These individuals will be funded to receive training from approved training providers as part of the programme.
The programme aligns with the Ministry’s progressive implementation approach: 1%-10%-100%. In this first phase, the target is to train and place 30,000 technical talents, which represents the initial 1% of the overall 3MTT goal.
It will be executed based on a framework that has been collaboratively designed with input from key stakeholders across government agencies, training providers, educational institutions, development agencies, and the private sector.
