During the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima met with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Their discussions revolved around the decade-long Belt and Road cooperation between China and Africa.

Xi Jinping highlighted numerous collaboration projects in Nigeria, encompassing sectors such as railways, ports, power stations, telecommunication networks, and the construction of free trade zones.

China expressed its willingness to continue supporting Nigeria in achieving industrialization and agricultural modernization as part of the Belt and Road initiative.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of solidarity and cooperation in the face of global transformation and turbulence.

They discussed the need for enhanced personnel exchanges and practical, high-quality cooperation. China reaffirmed its support for Nigeria’s greater involvement in international and regional affairs.

The meeting is reportedly a sign of commitment to strengthening the partnership between China and Nigeria, with a focus on shared development and cooperation as part of the Belt and Road initiative.
