Step aside, change is coming to the Bank of Industry (BOI) as President Bola Tinubu announces the appointment of Dr. Olasupo Olusi as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

In a statement released by the presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, it was revealed that this appointment marks the start of a four-year term for Dr. Olusi.

This transition follows the voluntary resignation of the former BOI Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Olukayode Pitan.

With this shift in leadership, President Tinubu has charged Dr. Olusi with a significant mission – to ensure that Nigerians of all backgrounds, running enterprises of all sizes, gain fair and equitable access to the crucial support needed to boost employment opportunities and create wealth for people across various income brackets.

Dr. Olusi brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as a World Bank economist and development finance expert for the past two decades.

His resume also includes a prestigious stint as the economic adviser to the then Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, from 2011 to 2015.

Education-wise, Dr. Olusi is no slouch. An alumnus of Hull University, United Kingdom, he holds a Masters degree in International Money, Finance, and Investment, along with a Doctorate in Finance and Economics from Durham University, United Kingdom, which he acquired in 2005.

As the new captain of the BOI ship, Dr. Olusi is steering into uncharted waters. The BOI plays a vital role in empowering businesses and driving economic growth in Nigeria.

With this fresh appointment, there’s a sense of anticipation and hope for new ideas and approaches that could further enhance the impact of the BOI on the nation’s entrepreneurial landscape.

So, as Dr. Olusi takes the helm, all eyes are on him to navigate these uncharted waters and steer the BOI towards a prosperous future.
