Meta’s messaging platform, WhatsApp, has introduced a convenient feature that allows users to log in to two accounts on the same phone simultaneously.

This means no more juggling two phones to manage two separate WhatsApp accounts. To set up the second account, users will need a second phone number and SIM card, or a phone that supports multi-SIM or eSIM functionality. You can easily enable this feature in your WhatsApp settings by clicking on your profile, and then selecting “Add account.”

This innovative feature is particularly useful for users who want to keep their work and personal WhatsApp accounts separate without the hassle of logging in and out each time. No more worrying about sending messages from the wrong account.

Additionally, WhatsApp has introduced passkey support for Android, allowing users to unlock their accounts using their face, fingerprint, or a PIN.

This is a more secure way to confirm ownership of your account compared to traditional passwords, providing an extra layer of security. Passkey logins will be rolled out globally in the coming weeks, and users can set up this feature during registration or in the app’s settings.

By enabling passkey logins, WhatsApp users can make it more challenging for hackers to gain remote access to their accounts, as physical access to the device will also be required.

Passkeys are a modern security technology that eliminates the need for vulnerable username and password combinations, reducing the risk of phishing and other security issues.

This move by WhatsApp aligns with the broader industry trend of phasing out traditional passwords in favour of more secure and user-friendly authentication methods. Tech giants like Google have also adopted passkeys to enhance security across their platforms.
