Ondo State’s deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has publicly apologised to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for the recent political crisis in the state.

Aiyedatiwa expressed regret for the negative reports and political tension that have plagued the state, acknowledging that they may have caused embarrassment to the governor.

During a media briefing in the state capital, Akure, Aiyedatiwa affirmed his loyalty to Governor Akeredolu and his commitment to the development of Ondo State. He distanced himself from any protests or calls for the governor’s resignation.

The political turmoil in Ondo State has led to a significant conflict between Governor Akeredolu and his deputy, resulting in the state House of Assembly initiating impeachment proceedings against Aiyedatiwa for alleged misconduct.

In response to the situation, the state’s lawmakers have expressed their willingness to explore a political solution to the impeachment proceedings following the intervention of national leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who met with some members of the assembly and party leaders in the state.
