Operation Delta Safe Seizes 962,500 Barrels of Stolen Crude Oil, Arrests 14 Oil Thieves

Troops of Operation Delta Safe (OPDS) in the Niger Delta region have seized significant amounts of stolen crude oil and arrested oil thieves.
During the past week, they confiscated 962,500 barrels of stolen crude oil, 35,420 litres of diesel, and 38,450 litres of kerosene. Additionally, 14 oil thieves were arrested, and 63 illegal refineries were destroyed during their operations.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, shared this information during a briefing at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. He also provided details about the operations against terrorists and insurgents across the country.
In addition to the successes against oil theft, the military reported numerous achievements in counter-terrorism efforts.
These included the neutralisation of 73 terrorists, the arrest of 182 individuals connected to terrorism, the rescue of 68 kidnapped hostages, and the recovery of a significant amount of weaponry and ammunition.
Buba emphasised the effectiveness of ongoing operations against terrorists and extremists. He stated that the armed forces are taking the lead in counter-terrorism efforts across the country. Military operations have disrupted and disoriented these groups, limiting their hiding places.
The military’s commitment to protecting citizens from harm by terrorists and insurgents remains a top priority.
Operations such as the one conducted against an ISWAP terrorist commander in Niger State demonstrate their determination to flush out these groups.
The military high command’s message is clear: individuals and groups must choose whether to stand with Nigerians and the armed forces or oppose them in the fight against terrorists and extremists.
