Former Minister Oby Ezekwesili Blasts Nigerian and African Political Class for Insensitivity and Entrenched Culture of Self-Interest

Oby Ezekwesili, Nigeria’s former Minister of Education, has criticised the country’s political class, accusing them of sharing a common dominant political culture of subjugation.

She expressed her disapproval of the National Assembly’s recent purchase of over 400 new cars for members, including Labour Party lawmakers, during a time of national financial crisis and widespread suffering.

Ezekwesili highlighted that she has been voicing her concerns about the undifferentiated political class and behavioural sameness for more than two decades.

She believes that Nigerians and Africans, in general, are affected by a political class that prioritizes personal interests over the common good, regardless of party affiliations.

Her remarks reflect the frustration and disappointment felt by many Nigerians regarding the actions and priorities of their political leaders.
