Efforts Underway to Curb Insecurity in South East, Says SSA to the President

Mrs. Chioma Nweze, the Senior Special Assistant to President Ahmed Tinubu on Community Development, has expressed concern over the security challenges in the South East region of Nigeria.

She revealed that she has been working closely with the Governors of the zone to address these security issues.

Nweze made this statement in Abakaliki, where she also handed over agricultural equipment to beneficiaries of the International Food for Agricultural Development (IFAD) programme.

She highlighted the need for cooperation among South East Governors to tackle the security menace and mentioned the negative impact of insecurity on the region.

She emphasised the importance of grassroots development and the President’s interest in strengthening communities.

Nweze expressed optimism about the IFAD programme, which aims to improve agriculture in the region, and suggested that it would continue and expand.

During a courtesy visit to Governor Francis Nwifuru, she commended the Governor for releasing one hundred million naira as counterpart funds for the IFAD programme.

She encouraged the Governor to continue providing necessary funds for the development of the state.

Nweze stressed the significance of agriculture in boosting the local economy and alleviating poverty.

She also mentioned the President’s commitment to supporting agricultural initiatives and creating opportunities for self-sustainability.

Nweze indicated her active collaboration with the Governors of the South East region to address security concerns, particularly in the context of the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

She recognised the need for unity and cooperation among the Governors to ensure the region’s security and development.

Nweze’s remarks underscore the importance of tackling insecurity and promoting agricultural growth in the South East.
