Former Minister Adebayo Shittu Highlights Contrasts Between Buhari and Tinubu’s Leadership Styles
Adebayo Shittu, a former Minister of Communications, has criticised the leadership style of former President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that Buhari rarely supervised his cabinet members during his tenure.
Shittu made these comments during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme.
Shittu further explained that President Buhari was not known for providing direct supervision or closely monitoring the activities of his ministers.
According to him, Buhari was more reserved and generally allowed his ministers to carry out their duties without frequent interference.
Shittu also mentioned that there was minimal interaction between the ministers and the President.
However, Shittu commended President Bola Tinubu for taking a different approach by challenging his ministers to deliver on their responsibilities or face the possibility of being sacked.
He emphasised that creating transparent and quantifiable milestones for each ministry is essential.
Tinubu, while declaring open a cabinet retreat, emphasised the need for his ministers to perform effectively, and he warned that ineffective members of his cabinet would be removed from their positions.
Shittu believes that this approach is a positive departure from the previous government’s style.
