The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Port Harcourt 2 Area Command in Onne has reported a significant increase in revenue generation for the period from January 2023 to October 2023.

The command, under the leadership of Customs Area Controller Comptroller Baba Iman, generated a total of N246,025,872,903.80 during this period.

This represents an increase of N44,245,889,008.65 compared to the revenue generated in 2022.

Comptroller Iman attributed this achievement to collaborative efforts with other government agencies operating in the area.

He also highlighted that the command exceeded its monthly revenue target of N28 billion in October, generating over N38 billion.

In addition to revenue generation, the Port Harcourt 2 Area Command has been actively involved in enforcing import prohibition laws.

During the last six months, the Customs made seizures of nine containers for violations of these laws. Notable seizures included concealed items such as a pistol and 100 rounds of ammunition in a container that was supposed to contain household effects.

Other seized items included used clothing, used tyres, vehicles involved in concealing contraband substances, and various goods.

Comptroller Iman emphasised that these actions are taken to enforce the laws of the nation and serve as a deterrent to others.

He assured the public that the Customs Service will continue to maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards smuggling and fulfil its responsibilities in enforcing the law.

This achievement by the NCS Port Harcourt 2 Area Command is indicative of its commitment to revenue collection and upholding regulatory and legal standards in trade and commerce.
