Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Takes Oath of Office

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has officially taken her seat in the Nigerian Senate as the new representative for Kogi Central Senatorial District.

The oath of office was administered to her by the Clerk of the Senate during a plenary session. Senate President Godswill Akpabio supervised the ceremony.

This development follows the recent Court of Appeal ruling that affirmed Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the duly elected candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial Election held in February.

The appeal filed by Senator Abubakar Ohere, who was of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was dismissed for lacking merit.

In September, the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal in Lokoja had nullified the victory of Senator Ohere and declared Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the actual winner of the February senatorial poll.

Despite Ohere’s appeal, the appellate court has upheld Akpoti-Uduaghan’s election.
