Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has taken a significant step to enhance the state’s education system by approving the disbursement of N497 million to cover the 2023 WAEC examination fees for students in public schools.

This move aligns with the state’s commitment to providing free education from primary to secondary school, demonstrating the government’s determination to implement the “Zero Out-of-School Policy.”

The Governor’s dedication to ensuring every child has access to quality education, regardless of their socioeconomic background, is evident in this decision.

It aims to enable students to take essential examinations without placing a financial burden on their parents or guardians.

Moreover, the Governor recently emphasised his administration’s intention to penalise parents who do not enrol their children in school under his leadership.

This comprehensive approach not only focuses on increasing educational accessibility but also emphasises active participation.

Among the schools benefiting from this initiative, Dekina has the highest number of students, with 1,867 beneficiaries, followed by Lokoja Local Government Area with 1,569 students and Okene LGA with 1,345 students.

Overall, this initiative will support the educational prospects of 15,033 students, promising a brighter future for the youth of Kogi State.
