The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative has officially opened a CNG conversion centre in Kaduna as part of the Nigerian government’s efforts to address the impact of subsidy removal.

The centre is designed to convert conventional petrol vehicles into Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered vehicles, reflecting Nigeria’s commitment to transitioning to cleaner and more affordable energy solutions.

Chairman of the Presidential CNG Initiative Steering Committee, Zacch Adedeji, emphasised that this initiative aims to reduce operating costs for vehicle owners and contribute to a significant decrease in carbon emissions.

CNG is viewed as a practical and cost-effective alternative to traditional petrol, making it an attractive choice for consumers and businesses.

The Programme Director of P-CNGi, Michael Oluwagbemi, stressed that CNG is a safe and affordable energy solution for Nigerians, providing a cleaner, cost-effective, and environmentally conscious option.

This effort represents a broader commitment to a more sustainable and eco-friendly energy future, aligning with global trends towards cleaner energy sources.

The opening of the CNG conversion centre in Kaduna is part of a broader strategy to promote CNG adoption in Nigeria and reduce the country’s reliance on traditional petrol, especially in the wake of subsidy removal.

This initiative is expected to contribute to a greener and more sustainable energy landscape in Nigeria, aligning with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and address environmental concerns.
