The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended 10 suspects, including three blind individuals, on charges of drug trafficking.

The operations in Lagos resulted in the seizure of approximately N13 billion worth of illicit drugs, including 14,481,519 pills of Tramadol and bottles of codeine syrup.

The operations took place at three different locations: Amuwo Odofin, Idumota, and the SAHCO shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

In one raid, 490,000 pills of Tramadol and 81,519 bottles of codeine syrup were seized. Another operation at a secret warehouse in Surulere resulted in the recovery of 12,700,000 pills of Tramadol.

At the Lagos airport, six individuals involved in smuggling illicit drugs through the Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) warehouse were arrested, and 1,210,000 pills of Tramadol were confiscated.

The NDLEA also apprehended a suspect at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja who had ingested heroin pellets.

In addition, 22 parcels of cocaine concealed in Aso Oke fabrics were intercepted by NDLEA operatives at courier firms in Abuja.

Moreover, three blind men were arrested in Lagos and Kano for operating an illicit drug ring.

The blind suspect arrested in Abuja was unaware of the contents of the bag he was delivering. The arrested individuals have been connected to drug trafficking and distribution.

These operations are part of the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and trafficking across Nigeria.

The agency conducts educational lectures to raise awareness of the dangers of drug abuse and addiction.

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), commended the officers and called for their continued dedication as the agency expands its operations against drug cartels.
