The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has announced plans to launch a comprehensive roadmap aimed at addressing youth unemployment in Nigeria.

The minister revealed this initiative during the ongoing Lagos International Trade Fair, emphasising the importance of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in executing the plan effectively.

Onyejeocha challenged the top managers at the NDE to step up to the task and play a pivotal role in removing 80% of unemployed youths from the streets.

The minister underscored the crucial role of the NDE in tackling unemployment by providing skills and entrepreneurship opportunities for young Nigerians.

During her statement at the trade fair, Onyejeocha emphasised the commitment of the President to decisively address the challenge of youth unemployment in the country.

She urged the NDE to focus on this mission without compromise and insisted that trainees should be equipped with a substantial starter pack to facilitate their transition away from unemployment.
