NOA Director-General Encourages Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi Residents to Vote Without Fear

As voters in Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi states prepare to elect their governors in the upcoming elections, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has issued a compelling call for active civic participation.
The Director-General of NOA, Lanre Issa-Onilu, underscored the significance of voting as a fundamental civic duty and urged residents to cast their votes for the candidates of their choice without succumbing to intimidation or fear.
In a statement released on Friday, Issa-Onilu emphasised that participating in the electoral process is not just a right but also a responsibility.
He encouraged residents to view the election as an opportunity to shape the direction of their states for the next four years.
The NOA chief stressed that failing to vote for preferred candidates might be perceived as a disinterest in the developmental trajectory of their states.
Addressing concerns about safety and security, Issa-Onilu assured the public that the Federal Government has deployed security operatives to safeguard the electoral proceedings and maintain peace during the elections.
He acknowledged the efforts of key stakeholders, particularly the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for orchestrating robust security measures to ensure a successful election day with minimal risks to lives and property.
The NOA Director-General also expressed appreciation for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their timely deployment of electoral materials to the states.
He highlighted the preparedness of INEC to fulfil its electoral mandate and ensure a smooth voting process.
Issa-Onilu reiterated the importance of the ongoing enlightenment outreaches aimed at encouraging massive voter participation, curbing violence, increasing awareness of the new electoral act, and fostering a peaceful environment for the elections.
The call for active engagement in the democratic process stands as a testament to the agency’s commitment to promoting civic responsibility and ensuring the success of the electoral exercise in Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi states.
