NNPC Resolves Dispute: TotalEnergies Oil Production Restored to 275,000 Barrels Per Day

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has successfully brokered a peace deal that led to the restoration of oil production at TotalEnergies.
NNPCL announced the resumption of production, amounting to 275,000 barrels per day, following negotiations with the management of TotalEnergies and representatives from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).
The peace deal, facilitated by NNPC Limited, involved a comprehensive agreement between the parties, and a communiqué was issued at the end of the negotiation session.
The agreement outlines a framework for addressing the issues that led to the industrial action, and all parties involved committed to resolving these matters cooperatively.
The communiqué was signed by TotalEnergies MD/CEO Matthieu Bouyer, PENGASSAN President Comrade Festus Osifo, and NUPENG President Comrade Williams Akporegha.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by NNPC Ltd.’s EVP Upstream, Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan and Chief Upstream Investment Officer, NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services, Bala Wunti.
The resolution signifies a significant step towards normalising operations and ensuring stability in the oil and gas sector.
PENGASSAN President, Comrade Festus Osifo, expressed the commitment of the union to the agreement, emphasising the immediate restoration of normalcy across all offices and field locations.
The announcement brings relief to the industry and underscores the importance of constructive dialogue in resolving issues within the energy sector.
