Political Aide Killed as Thugs Invade Bayelsa Collation Center
Tragedy struck at the collation centre in Twon-Brass, Brass local government area of Bayelsa State, as Mr. George Sibo, a member of a prominent political party, was killed during an attack by thugs.
Known as “Kobo-Kobo,” Sibo served as an aide to the Brass Local Government Chairman, Hanson Alabo-Karika.
The incident occurred when thugs stormed the collation centre, targeting Sibo as results for specific wards were being submitted.
Eyewitnesses reported the gruesome murder, highlighting the unfortunate events that unfolded during the collation process.
Sibo, a married man with children and an indigene of Twon-Brass, fell victim to the violence that erupted in the course of political activities.
Dr. Daniel Charles, the lawmaker representing Brass Constituency I, expressed deep sadness over the loss, condemning the “desperate power seekers” responsible for the attack.
He called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those behind this dastardly act.
The incident adds to the concerns raised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which had earlier reported the hostage situation of its officials in Brass.
As investigations unfold, Bayelsa State police are expected to provide more details about this unfortunate incident.
