The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the adoption of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode for the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
The CBT mode will be implemented starting with the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates in February 2024.
This move is a departure from the traditional paper and pencil test mode that WAEC has used for over 70 years.
The new CBT mode will include fully computer-based objective tests, while essays and practical papers will be hybrid, with questions delivered on screen, and candidates required to write answers on answer booklets.
WAEC will conduct a mock examination to help candidates familiarise themselves with the new platform. The registration for the CBT examination is set to begin on December 18, 2023.
