The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has issued an appeal to the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to consider suspending the nationwide strike that commenced today.

The agency urged the labor unions to allow the ongoing investigation by security agencies into the reported assault on NLC president, Joe Ajearo, in Imo State, to be concluded.

In a statement, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the Director-General of the Agency, emphasized that suspending the strike is in the best interest of the nation’s economic growth and development.

He urged the unions to explore alternative avenues for resolving grievances with the Federal Government, condemning the assault on the labor leader and highlighting the negative impact of strikes on the economy.

The NOA Director-General emphasized the need for caution and patriotism during this critical juncture in the nation’s trajectory.
