IGP Confirms Arrested Suspects During Kogi Election Were Police Officers

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has confirmed that three suspects apprehended by soldiers during the recently concluded governorship election in Kogi State are, in fact, police officers.

This revelation comes after soldiers intercepted black security vehicles in Okene during the election, leading to several arrests.

The IGP acknowledged that three of the detained individuals were police personnel who were found escorting a VIP, contrary to established directives.

He assured that officers involved in similar incidents during the polls, where VIPs were escorted by election officers, would face disciplinary measures.

The IGP expressed gratitude to officers who participated in the off-circle elections in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa States.
