Kogi State Residents Rally at INEC Headquarters in Abuja, Express Confidence in Electoral Process

In a show of solidarity, residents of Kogi State gathered at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja to express their unwavering confidence in the electoral process and support for Governor-elect Usman Ododo.

The protestors, comprised of Kogi indigenes, issued a stern warning to individuals posing as opposition parties in the state, cautioning against attempts to discredit INEC through blackmail.

They emphasized their resolute commitment to Ododo’s mandate and declared the rejection of ethnic agendas in Kogi’s political landscape.

Holding placards with messages like “Ododo is Kogi Agenda” and “Kogi has decided,” the demonstrators vowed to continue gathering at the INEC headquarters, opposing what they deemed as misinformation by “dubious politicians.”

AbdulRahman Umar, one of the protesters, commended authorities and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful and fair election, asserting that the people of Kogi had spoken loudly on November 11.

Asmau Idris emphasized the unity of Kogi State, highlighting the collective ownership of the region by Okuns, Centrals, and Igalas.

The protesters pledged to protect their mandate and affirmed their commitment to an undivided Kogi State.

INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Security Committee, Maj. Gen. Modibbo Alkali (retd), expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the demonstrators and reiterated the fairness and credibility of the recent off-cycle elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states, conducted in accordance with established guidelines.
