Tinubu Government Urges Media to Present Nigeria Positively for Investor Attraction

The government led by President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerian media to play a role in presenting the country positively to attract investors.
The appeal was made through the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, who represented Tinubu at the 19th All Nigeria Editors Conference organized by the Nigerian Guild of Editors in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
Tinubu emphasised the media’s responsibility as a primary source of information, highlighting its role in keeping the public informed about economic trends.
He urged media outlets to provide timely and accurate reporting that fosters a conducive environment for growth.
Tinubu emphasised the importance of positive media coverage to enhance investor confidence and attract necessary investments for economic development.
This call comes amidst lingering controversies surrounding Tinubu, including allegations of certificate forgery and his connection to the forfeiture of $460,000 linked to drug deal proceeds to the United States government in 1993.
Despite these controversies, Tinubu urged the media to contribute to portraying a favorable business environment that contributes to financial market stability.
However, critics, including Peter Obi of the Labour Party, argue that controversies surrounding Tinubu’s certificate forgery portray Nigerians negatively in international communities, leading to perceptions of fraud and identity theft.
