22 Justices Nominated to Fill Supreme Court Vacancies Amidst Ongoing Pressures

The Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) has nominated 22 justices to fill vacancies in the Supreme Court.
The nominations are aimed at addressing the gaps created by the death or retirement of 12 justices in the last two years, leaving the apex court short of the constitutionally provided 21 justices.
The list, categorized by geopolitical zones, includes justices prioritized for elevation and those listed as reserves.
The nominations are subject to further action by the National Judicial Council (NJC).
The move follows concerns raised by retired Supreme Court Justice Musa Dattijo Muhammad about the decreasing number of Supreme Court justices, prompting efforts to fill the vacancies in line with constitutional provisions.
