EFCC Releases Military Personnel Arrested for Internet Fraud Amid Dramatic Confrontation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released seven military personnel, including one Army personnel and six from the Nigerian Air Force, who were arrested on Monday in connection with alleged internet-related fraud.
The release followed an incident where armed soldiers from the Nigerian Air Force invaded the EFCC office in Kaduna to enforce the release of their colleagues.
The soldiers arrived at the EFCC office, surrounded the main gate, and prevented EFCC officials from moving in or out.
A confrontation ensued between the Air Force personnel and EFCC security operatives, which was eventually resolved after discussions between the EFCC Zonal Head and the Air Force team.
The suspects were released to the Nigerian Air Force Provost after completion of an investigation and forensic profiling.
The EFCC stated that despite their release to the agency, the suspects would still be arraigned in court at the appropriate time, adhering to the commission’s operating procedure.
