Kano Governor Abba Yusuf to Appeal Election Dismissal, Vows to Continue Development Agenda

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has announced his intention to appeal the Court of Appeal’s dismissal of his election, urging stakeholders to prepare for a legal battle at the Supreme Court.

The Court of Appeal nullified Yusuf’s election, citing evidence that he was not a valid candidate in the gubernatorial election, as he was not a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) at the time.

The court upheld the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s earlier decision, which declared Yusuf’s election invalid.

Despite the setback, Yusuf expressed optimism that the Supreme Court would uphold the mandate given by the people of Kano State.

He assured the public that the temporary setback would not hinder his administration’s commitment to ongoing projects and initiatives for the state’s development.

The Court of Appeal’s ruling follows a series of legal challenges and a tribunal decision that invalidated Yusuf’s initial victory.
