Shehu Sani Decries Judiciary as ‘Coffin of Democracy’ Following Plateau Governor’s Sack

Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has criticised the judiciary, describing it as the “coffin of democracy” in Nigeria.
Sani’s comments came in response to the recent judgment by the Court of Appeal that nullified the election of Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State.
The appellate court set aside the decision of the governorship election tribunal, declaring Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner and instructing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a fresh certificate of return to him.
Sani, expressing dissatisfaction with the verdict, characterised it as an “unfortunate, unacceptable, and condemnable” heist of the people’s will, suggesting that the judiciary is becoming a threat to democracy.
