Vice-President Expresses Optimism Amid Challenges, Praises Intellectual Capacities and Leadership Style

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has expressed optimism about Nigeria overcoming its challenges, citing the intellectual capabilities of its citizens and the leadership style of President Bola Tinubu.

Shettima made these remarks at a reception organized by the University of Ibadan Muslim Graduates’ Association (UIMGA) in his honor.

Despite acknowledging domestic threats to the country’s lives and economy, Shettima emphasized the importance of leveraging domestic solutions.

He urged Nigerians to harness their collective knowledge and expertise to build a resilient economy and address global challenges like climate change.

In his statement, Shettima said, “Even as Nigeria strives to overcome the consequences of geopolitical events around us and the domestic threats to our lives and the economy, we are comforted by your intellectual capabilities to understand the necessity of the decisions we have taken to salvage Nigeria.”

Shettima paid tribute to the University of Ibadan for shaping his worldview and instilling in him the values of public service.

He emphasised the significance of education and collaboration in propelling the nation towards a brighter future.

The vice-president praised UIMGA for its remarkable contributions and initiatives in promoting societal peace and progress.

He highlighted the association’s efforts in providing scholarships, conducting workshops, organizing awareness campaigns, and hosting public lectures on critical developmental issues.

Shettima concluded by emphasizing the need to build synergy between academia and the broader community, between the public and private sectors, and between students and practicing specialists.

The reception served as a platform for dialogue, inspiration, and renewed dedication to the nation’s development.
