The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), has issued a stern caution to politicians who faced defeat in Election Petition Tribunals, advising them against tarnishing the reputation of the nation’s judiciary.

In a recent statement to the press during a prayer event in his Ijagbo country home in Kwara State, Fagbemi denounced the allegations circulating about the judiciary as baseless and tantamount to cheap blackmail.

Fagbemi urged the aggrieved politicians to refrain from unfounded insinuations against judges, emphasizing the importance of concrete evidence for any accusations.

He asserted that despite losses at the Tribunal, the Appeal Court, and the Supreme Court, politicians should accept the outcomes with a sense of morality, stressing that judges, being human, can err.

Fagbemi stated, “Unless you are able to bring forth concrete evidence, I will not succumb to blackmail. Nobody will shield an erring judge.”

The AGF also appealed to the broader political landscape, imploring all parties to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship.

He underscored the need for a fair assessment of judicial decisions and discouraged the practice of dragging the nation’s name through the mud with groundless insinuations.

During the prayer session organized by his family, Fagbemi urged Nigerians to afford President Bola Tinubu the opportunity to reshape the nation’s fortunes.

He highlighted Tinubu’s proactive approach to seeking foreign investments, expressing optimism about positive responses from investors.

Fagbemi called for patience, acknowledging that the transformative impact of President Tinubu’s efforts may take time to manifest.
