Northern Governors Convene in Yola for Crucial North-East Governors’ Forum Meeting

A pivotal meeting has commenced in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, as Northern governors gather for the 9th quarterly meeting of the North-East Governors’ Forum (NEGF).
The meeting, scheduled for today, has brought together governors from six states, including Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Borno, and Taraba, who have converged on the state capital to address pressing issues affecting the region.
Governors Sen Bala Mohammed, Muhammad Inuwa, Mai Mala Buni, Professor Babagana Zulum, and Agbu Kefas have joined their host, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, for discussions on matters of common interest.
Key areas of focus include addressing insecurity challenges and advancing infrastructural development in the North-East region.
The meeting, presided over by Governor Zulum as the Chairman of the Forum, kicked off at the Government House in Jimeta – Yola.
Stakeholders such as the North-East Development Commission (NEDC), Development Partners, and other relevant bodies are expected to participate in the discussions.
Governor Zulum declared the event open, emphasizing the significance of collaborative efforts in addressing shared concerns within the region.
The closed-door session of the meeting will delve into critical issues affecting the North-East, with a focus on formulating resolutions to enhance the region’s overall development.
Following the closed-door deliberations, the Forum plans to share its resolutions with journalists during a press briefing.
This open communication aims to keep the public informed about the decisions and strategies discussed to address challenges in the North-East.
