Borno State Inks N10.9 Billion Deal for Key Road Projects to Transform State Infrastructure

The Borno State Government has officially signed a N10.9 billion Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dan Nene Construction Company for the construction of three major roads covering approximately 7.26 kilometers within the state.
Mustapha Gubio, the Commissioner for Works and Housing in the state, made this announcement during the MoU signing ceremony held in Maiduguri on Saturday.
The primary objective of this infrastructure project is to alleviate traffic congestion in Maiduguri city and foster its expansion for overall development.
The three road segments include a 3.5 km stretch passing through Shehu Umar Garbai and Bursari Road, connecting Shehu roundabout to Baga Road at the state mechanical workshop.
The second road, spanning 2.4 kilometers, will run from Monday Market roundabout to Budum roundabout and Kofa Biyu. The third road, Sultan Maimalari Road, measuring 1.5 km, will extend from Idrissa Khadi junction to Sir Kashim Ibrahim Way through Budum roundabout.
Gubio revealed that the state government has already disbursed a 40% down payment of the contract sum to the selected contractor, Dan Nene Construction Company.
He expressed confidence that this initial payment would facilitate substantial progress within a short timeframe and contribute to the timely completion of the projects.
The commissioner highlighted the rigorous selection process, with Dan Nene Construction Company emerging as the most suitable candidate among competing bidders.
As part of his address, Gubio urged the construction company to adhere strictly to project specifications and ensure the completion of the roadworks within the stipulated eight-month timeframe.
He also called on consultants, engineers, and stakeholders to maintain a constant on-site presence to guarantee compliance with quality and standards.
Representing the construction company, Li Chao expressed gratitude for being entrusted with the contract and affirmed the company’s commitment to meeting project specifications and timelines.
