DSS Plans to Manufacture Drones and Weapons

The Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, has announced plans for the agency to start manufacturing its own Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), popularly known as drones, AK-47s, and other weapons.
Bichi made this revelation during the graduation ceremony of the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC) 16 participants in Abuja.
According to Bichi, the DSS intends to become more self-sufficient by producing the weapons it uses and even selling them to other agencies.
He emphasized the importance of reducing reliance on foreign countries for weapons, aiming to save resources spent on procurement.
The DG revealed that the DSS is working on producing UAVs, and the weapons would soon be unveiled and deployed across the country.
Bichi stressed the agency’s commitment to research and development, emphasizing that they would “start eating what [they] produce.”
He highlighted the agency’s efforts to become self-reliant in producing assets and platforms, including UAVs and AK-47s. Bichi believes that reaching this goal will contribute to the nation’s security and economic well-being.
The move towards manufacturing its own weapons aligns with the DSS’s strategy to reduce expenses and enhance national security.
Bichi pointed out that the agency would continue providing credible intelligence to other security agencies to support their operations.
As part of the initiative, Bichi urged residents of Plateau and Kaduna to redirect hostilities towards job creation, drawing inspiration from other regions that have successfully turned conflicts into opportunities for economic development.
In a plea to Nigerians, Bichi encouraged people to avoid disparaging their leaders, emphasizing the importance of patience and constructive dialogue in a democratic dispensation.
