President Bola Tinubu Unveils Electric Taxi Fleet in Borno State

In a momentous event in Maiduguri, President Bola Tinubu inaugurated 107 mass transit vehicles, including an impressive fleet of 50 electric taxis, a pioneering move by the Borno State Government.

The ceremony celebrated Governor Babagana Zulum’s visionary leadership, as the President commended his commitment to people-oriented policies and transformative projects.

President Tinubu, expressing his admiration for Governor Zulum’s foresight, disclosed that the Federal Government is actively considering establishing a plant to produce more electric vehicles, a strategic move aimed at generating employment opportunities and revolutionizing transportation.

Governor Zulum, in his address, revealed that the inspiration for this groundbreaking project came after a directive from President Tinubu to governors following the removal of the fuel subsidy.

He emphasized that the deployment of 50 electric taxis is a historic initiative in Nigeria, aligning with the urgent need to address climate change concerns.

The fleet inaugurated by President Tinubu includes not only the 50 electric taxis but also 35 coaster buses, 12 Hummer buses, and 10 luxurious buses, marking a comprehensive effort to modernize and enhance the state’s public transportation system.

In his maiden official visit to Maiduguri, President Tinubu paid a courtesy call on the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar El-Kanemi, reinforcing the significance of the occasion.

Additionally, the President inaugurated the annual Chief of Army Staff Conference, underlining the multifaceted nature of his visit.
