President Bola Tinubu has emphatically declared his determination to triumph in the ongoing battle to safeguard Nigeria.
Addressing the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference 2023 in Maiduguri, Borno State, Tinubu asserted that he will relentlessly support the military in their mission to quell the challenges facing the nation.
In his address, President Tinubu applauded the Nigerian Army’s dedication to national security and urged them to remain non-partisan while remaining vigilant in upholding democratic principles, particularly during elections.
He highlighted the pivotal role of the army as a guardian of constitutional order.
Acknowledging the army’s commendable conduct during recent elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States, President Tinubu emphasized the need for the military to uphold democracy without bias.
He also commended the collaborative efforts between the military and civilian population, citing numerous projects aimed at improving living conditions and fostering mutual understanding.
President Tinubu underscored his commitment to enhancing national defense capabilities, pointing to the recent procurement of new aircraft as evidence of ongoing efforts to modernize the military.
He expressed gratitude for the armed forces’ sacrifices and approved N18 billion in Group Life Assurance benefits for families of fallen heroes.
Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar lauded President Tinubu’s commitment to empowering the military, noting a substantial increase in morale among the armed forces.
He commended the administration’s investments in infrastructure to boost the military’s operational capabilities.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, updated President Tinubu on the positive impact of ongoing military operations, citing significant weakening of criminal elements and effective management of farmer-herder crises.
