Civil Service Graduates 106 from Leadership Enhancement Program

The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) celebrated the graduation of 106 participants in the second batch of its Leadership Enhancement and Development Programme (LEAD–P). The Head of Civil Service, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, expressed satisfaction with the participants’ quality during the graduation ceremony in Abuja on Friday. The LEAD–P initiative aims to enhance human capital within the civil service.

Dr Yemi-Esan emphasized that human capital is a nation’s greatest wealth, and investing in knowledge and skills is crucial for development. The LEAD–P program addresses knowledge and skill gaps within the civil service by identifying, training, and equipping middle-level officers with the competencies needed for future leadership positions. The focus on middle-level officers, specifically those from grade level 10 to 14, aims to build a strong foundation for the future of the civil service.

The Head of Civil Service congratulated the graduands, noting that they would be sought after to drive the smooth delivery of critical projects and programs in Nigeria. Sen. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, highlighted LEAD-P as a vital pillar of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025, emphasizing the commitment to excellence in governance.

The guest speaker, Mr Tajudeen Adeola, urged civil servants to uphold integrity, honesty, and accountability for effective leadership. Adeola advised the LEAD–P graduands to remain open to continuous learning and be agents of change in their environments, viewing their careers as a calling. He also called on the government to ensure fair wages for civil servants to encourage honesty, enhance productivity, and improve service delivery.
