Ondo State Governor Aiyedatiwa Pays Condolence Visit to Late Akeredolu’s Family

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, along with state officials, paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Rotimi Akeredolu, who passed away on Wednesday. Akeredolu, aged 67, had been battling prostate cancer and passed away in a German hospital.

Following Akeredolu’s death, Aiyedatiwa, who was inaugurated as the new governor on the same day, led a delegation to visit the late governor’s family in Ibadan, Oyo State. Aiyedatiwa expressed deep sorrow over Akeredolu’s demise, stating that it was a significant loss not only for Ondo State and the late governor’s family but for the entire nation.

Aiyedatiwa emphasized Akeredolu’s impact on Nigeria’s history, describing him as a courageous leader who consistently pursued his convictions regardless of the circumstances. He highlighted Akeredolu’s contributions to various sectors in Ondo State, including security, infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

The governor also acknowledged Akeredolu’s dedication to his faith and his significant role in the Anglican Communion. He expressed his belief that Akeredolu had completed his purposeful journey in life and that his followers should strive to emulate his impactful legacy.

During the visit, Aiyedatiwa signed a condolence register on behalf of the government and people of Ondo State. In response, Kola Akeredolu, a pastor and younger brother of the deceased, appreciated the governor’s gesture of solidarity and assured him that the family deeply appreciated the visit.
