Sokoto State Governor Signs Bill to Establish Community Guards Corps to Enhance Security

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has given his assent to a bill that establishes the Community Guards Corps in the state. The governor described the bill as a significant milestone in his administration’s commitment to ensuring the security and development of Sokoto State.
According to Governor Aliyu, the initiative aims to address the rising incidents of kidnappings, banditry, and other criminal activities in the state. He highlighted that this effort is part of the state’s strategy to combat these challenges and collaborate with neighboring states in the fight against insecurity.
Expressing his appreciation to the members of the State House of Assembly for their support, Governor Aliyu emphasized that the establishment of the Community Guards Corps is intended to work in harmony with existing security agencies. Its purpose is to provide additional support in maintaining a secure and conducive environment for all citizens.
Governor Aliyu clarified that the Community Guards Corps is not meant to compete with security agencies but to enhance their efforts by identifying threats and providing valuable information. He stressed that the initiative is designed to complement the work of security agencies in identifying and addressing security threats in the state.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the safety of the people and their property, Governor Aliyu called on citizens to continue supporting the government through prayers and by sharing relevant information to promote a safe and secure environment in Sokoto State.
