Tragedy struck as bandits launched attacks on Kuduru village in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory and the Garam and Azu communities in Niger State, resulting in loss of lives and mass abductions. The incidents occurred on separate dates in December, sending shockwaves through the affected areas.

In the first attack on December 23, bandits targeted Garam, a community near Bwari town, killing a pastor from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and abducting 13 others. The assailants struck again on December 28, this time in Kuduru, a neighbouring area to Garam, where they kidnapped 18 individuals. Not stopping there, the bandits raided Azu on December 29, claiming three lives and abducting eight more people.

Describing the harrowing events, a resident of Garam named Mrs. Juliana recounted how the bandits abducted two boys who led them to their intended target’s house, where they kidnapped the entire family. During this ordeal, the pastor from RCCG was tragically shot in the presence of his wife and three children. In a heart-wrenching moment, the wife, realizing she had left her six-month-old baby behind, sought permission from the bandits to retrieve the child. Despite being allowed to return to her home with a female bandit accompanying her, the situation took a turn as the female bandit eventually left, rejoining her group as they departed with the kidnapped victims.
