Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has signed the 2024 appropriation bill amounting to N703.02 billion into law. The governor expressed optimism that the budget would propel the state to become Nigeria’s infrastructure capital and foster its overall development.
The signing took place at the governor’s office in Abeokuta, where the bill was presented to him by Olakunle Oluomo, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly. The budget, tagged “Budget of Sustained Growth and Development,” was initially presented to the House on November 30 by Governor Abiodun himself.
Governor Abiodun highlighted the state’s significant progress over the last five years and emphasized his administration’s unwavering commitment to implementing its vision. He noted the substantial increase in the budget size since assuming office in 2019, reflecting the state’s growth trajectory.
The governor emphasized his administration’s dedication to creating an enabling environment for investments and economic prosperity in Ogun State. He stressed the successful implementation of previous budgets, with a minimum implementation rate of 70%, as a testament to his government’s commitment to development.
Governor Abiodun pledged to uphold fairness and equity in project execution across all regions of the state. He assured that his administration would continue building on the foundation laid, focusing on sustained development and prosperity for all residents.
The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, commended the rigorous scrutiny of the budget by the lawmakers, leading to its swift passage. He highlighted the importance of timely budget approval, aligning with international best practices.
