Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has demonstrated generosity by awarding N500,000 to each of the seven minors rescued from a child trafficking syndicate by the State Police Command. The Governor made this gesture while reuniting the children with their parents, following their retrieval by the Kano State Police Command under the leadership of CP Gumel.
The joint efforts of the Kano State Government and the Police led to the successful rescue of the minors, who had been transported to various locations in southern Nigeria. The emotional reunion between the children and their parents was marked by tears of joy, as Governor Yusuf expressed his gratitude to the Police for their diligent work.
In a statement by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson, the Governor expressed his deep dismay at the discovery of the abducted children, emphasizing the need for parents to remain vigilant in safeguarding their children. He also urged the Bauchi State Governor to take decisive legal action against the arrested suspects involved in the abduction and trafficking of children from northern states.
Governor Yusuf highlighted the exemplary leadership of CP Gumel, describing him as a no-nonsense police officer who has contributed significantly to maintaining peace in Kano State. He commended the Commissioner of Police and the entire Police Command for their unwavering commitment and dedication to ensuring the state’s security.
CP Gumel, in turn, lauded the collaborative efforts that led to the successful rescue operation, acknowledging the logistical support provided by the Kano State Government. He reassured the public of the Police Command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society, particularly children and women, and vowed to bring perpetrators of such crimes to justice.
