Senator Orji Uzor Kalu Appeals for More Time for Tinubu’s Economic Reforms, Cites Ongoing Hardships

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia State has called on Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Tinubu’s administration as it works to revive the country’s economy. Speaking during a visit to the chairperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Kalu acknowledged the economic challenges facing Nigerians and urged them to give President Tinubu more time to implement reforms.

Kalu, a former chief whip of the Senate and a former governor of Abia State, expressed confidence in Tinubu’s efforts to reposition the economy and restore its former strength. He compared the government’s approach to cutting a cloth before sewing it, implying that the administration is in the process of laying the groundwork for future success.

In his remarks, Kalu appealed for an additional two to three years for the current administration to complete its economic agenda, citing the ongoing hardships faced by the populace. He emphasized the need for patience and understanding as the government works towards its goals.

Addressing the issue of the 2024 budget, Kalu explained the rationale behind the National Assembly’s decision to allocate significant funds for a national census in 2023. He argued that investing in the census was crucial to avoid substantial financial losses for Nigeria.

Furthermore, the senator urged Nigerian youths to embrace positive values and contribute to the country’s development by avoiding social vices and activities that could undermine peace and security.
