Minister of Defence Presents Hi-Tech Unmanned Vessels to President Tinubu

The Minister of Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, has presented two state-of-the-art unmanned water vessels to President Bola Tinubu, as part of efforts to enhance Nigeria’s security infrastructure. The vessels, known as the S2 and S3 Swift Sea Stalkers, were donated by Swift Ship Company, USA, to aid in combating insecurity on the nation’s waterways and across the country.
During the presentation, Matawalle highlighted the significance of the hi-tech equipment, emphasizing their potential in addressing security challenges in the Niger Delta, Lake Chad region, and other maritime areas of Nigeria. He noted that the donation was a result of his recent visit to several U.S. companies, where he sought innovative technologies to bolster the country’s military capabilities.
Matawalle’s visit included inspections of NEANY, Swift Ships, and OCR Global, renowned companies specializing in hi-tech military hardware production. He expressed the intention to foster partnerships with these companies to facilitate the local production of military hardware in Nigeria in collaboration with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON).
The minister stressed that such partnerships would enable Nigeria to acquire advanced military hardware production techniques, aligning with Tinubu’s agenda of promoting peace and security in the nation. He also briefed the President on other cutting-edge facilities he inspected during his visit, such as rapid deployment mobile RADAR systems, drone ground control stations, and compact biometric search-scan systems.
Matawalle assured President Tinubu that the acquisition of these state-of-the-art military and intelligence hardware capabilities would significantly contribute to Nigeria’s efforts in combating insecurity across the country.
