President Bola Tinubu has made significant changes in the leadership of key federal agencies as part of a broader effort to restructure and revitalize critical institutions for the benefit of Nigerian consumers and the nation’s economy.
The affected agencies include the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), where the following chief executive officers have been dismissed: Mr. Babatunde Irukera – Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and Mr. Alexander Ayoola Okoh – Director-General/CEO, Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).
Both dismissed chief executives have been instructed to hand over their duties to the next most senior officer in their respective agencies until new CEOs are appointed. The directive from President Tinubu mandates the immediate implementation of these changes.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, issued the announcement on January 8, 2024.
