Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, received a generous donation of N1 billion from Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola to support the security architecture through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF). The donation, which was the largest individual contribution to the fund, was presented during a symbolic event at the Lagos House, Marina, attended by state officials, the LSSTF Board of Directors, and representatives from Otedola’s company, Geregu Power PLC.
Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude for the significant contribution, highlighting its potential to enhance security and create a conducive environment for business and investment in Lagos. He commended Otedola for his generosity and urged other well-meaning Lagosians to follow suit, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in making Lagos safer.
The governor assured that the fund would be managed judiciously to ensure its effectiveness in securing the future of Lagos. He called for continued support from individuals and corporate entities, noting that the government was committed to complementing such contributions with its resources, including the provision of 300 vehicles to the LSSTF in the first quarter of the year.
In response, Tolani Otedola, representing her father, praised the efforts of the LSSTF and the government in maintaining security in Lagos. She emphasized the importance of transparency and efficient use of resources in achieving the fund’s objectives. Otedola acknowledged the dedication of security personnel, especially during festive periods, and encouraged residents to collaborate with the government for a safer Lagos.
