The Young Progressives Party chieftain, Amb. Ojo Phillip, dropped resignation letter at the YPP party Secretariat in Osogbo today.

Our correspondent obtained a copy of the letter where he detailed reasons for leaving the party.

“I hope this message finds you well.
Today, 8th of January, 2024, I come before you with utmost sincerity. After much contemplation and soul-searching, I have come to a firm resolution that I believe is in the best interest of both myself and the party. It is with all sense of responsibility that I tender my resignation as a member of the Young Progressives party.”

“Joining this party was a decision I made with genuine enthusiasm, fueled by a strong belief in its principles and policies. I dedicated my time, energy, and resources contributing towards the betterment of our society, particularly in my bid for the Osun State House of Assembly, Ifelodun constituency. Throughout my journey as a member, I held the esteemed position of State Zonal Secretary (Central),State Publicity Secretary among other duties with great sense of responsibility.”

“However, as life often presents us with unforeseen challenges, recent events have led me to reevaluate my political affiliation. I have witnessed certain actions, decisions, and ideologies within the party that directly contradict my core values and what I stand for as a representative of the people as such led me to a convinction that my aspirations and vision for the betterment of our society align more closely with another political platform. This decision has not been taken lightly, as I have cherished the relationships and experiences I have gained during my time with the Young Progressives party. However, I also understand the importance of staying true to oneself and standing firmly behind one’s convictions.”

“I hope my resignation will not be seen as an act of betrayal, but rather as a personal choice to pursue a different political path, one that is more aligned with my deep-rooted passion for positive change and progress. It is my sincere hope that the Young Progressives party continues its commendable work in the service of the people, and I wish my former colleagues success in their future endeavors.”

“I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this party, and I am confident that our paths will cross again in the pursuit of a better tomorrow for our beloved nation.”

He has yet not disclosed the party he’s moving to. But he’s assuring his teeming supporters to understand that his decision is for the interest of everyone of them.
